History

6-7 June 1991, Rouen (France), as European Society for the Study of Infant Deaths (ESID). Also referred to in French as Société européenne pour l'étude et la prévention de la mort des enfants. Bylaws adopted at 2nd conference, June 1992, Lübeck-Travemünde (Germany); modified, 2002, Florence. Registered in accordance with Belgian law. Merged with Global Strategy Task Force of SIDS International to form International Society for the Study and Prevention of Perinatal and Infant Death (ISPID), 2004.

Aims

Foster research on all aspects of and provide a forum for exchange of information pertaining to research on infant deaths; promote education and training in infant death research; establish and maintain standards of reporting and classifying data; promote joint research, standardization and prevention projects throughout Europe.
