History
2005, Moscow (Russia), on the initiative of Moscow City Museum and museum professionals in other countries who felt the need for a committee which would focus on museums of the city. Committee was approved by the Executive Council of B-XB1749 - International Council of Museums (ICOM) during the ICOM General Conference held in Seoul (Korea Rep), Oct 2004. At a meeting in Moscow (Russia), Apr 2005, delegates form 13 countries drafted the Committee's aims and objectives and elected an Executive Board.
Aims
Serve as a forum for all who are interested and involved in cities, where they can share knowledge and experience, exchange ideas and explore partnerships across national boundaries; be recognized as an international authority on the subject and a think-tank for ICOM on cities and city museums.
