The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

1982, within the framework of Council of Europe (CE). Ceased to exist.

Aims

Provide a contact point for those working in human rights in Europe; provide information for students, lawyers, academics, government, parliaments, nongovernmental organizations and members of the general public; promote greater awareness of human rights throughout Europe.

Activities

Provides information on activities within the framework of Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, European Social Charter, Convention Against Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities, mass media, sexual equality, campaign against racism and intolerance and helping new Europan democracies on human rights matters. A Human Rights Awareness Programme aims to increase knowledge about human rights in all parts of Europe and across all sectors of society, through the production and dissemination of publications, visual and audio-visual materials, the organization of seminars and workshops and assistance in the development of educational and training programmes for key sectors. Includes the Programme Police and Human Rights 1997-2000.
