1913, Dresden (Germany), as International Sled Sport Federation -- Internationaler Schlittensportverband. Re-founded, 1927, Dresden. In 1935, became 'Section de Luge' of D-XC1401 - International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF), with current English title and with German title Internationaler Rodelsportverband. Became an autonomous organization with current German title, 25 Jan 1957, Davos (Switzerland).
Develop the sport of luge on artificial and natural luge tracks in different countries, especially for young people, and encourage exchanges; encourage sporting cooperation among nations; organize championships; govern World Cup series; continue as part of the Olympic programme through artificial track luge.
