The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History
1995, as a merger of U-XG9393 - Institut italo-africain and U-XG4107 - Italian Institute for the Middle and Far East. Liquidated Dec 2011.
Aims
Foster increasingly valid and fruitful relations between Italy and the countries of Africa and Asia by: establishing and implementing study and research programmes; promoting cultural and scientific collaboration initiatives through the exchange of information, experience and knowledge among researchers and specialists; implementing cooperation, consultancy and assistance projects, with special regard to the conservation and promotion of the heritage of the African and Oriental countries and, within such a framework, carry out missions, study travel and archaeological campaigns in these countries; acquiring and conserving all forms of documentation concerning the historical, artistic and cultural heritage of the African and Oriental world, as well as its political, economic and social situation; organizing courses to teach the languages and cultures of the African and Asian countries; encourage the presence of students from these countries in Italian institutions.
