30 Jan 1985, Geneva (Switzerland), the Preparatory Committee for the International Medical Commission for Health and Human Rights (IMC) -- Comité préparatoire de la Commission médicale internationale pour la santé et les droits de l'homme having been set up in 1981. Also referred to as International Commission of Health Professionals -- Commission internationale des professionnels de la santé. Ceased to exist.

Aims

Provide high moral standards, mutual support and a rallying point for human rights work related to health; secure commitment by health professionals to respect human rights and professional ethics; investigate general situations and individual cases in which human rights relevant to health are violated and take action to secure observance of ethical principles.
