History

31 Dec 1986, to mark the International Year of Peace, by International Friendship Club Esperanto of Samarkand, following the idea born in the early 1980s when a number of international peace exhibitions were organized by local Esperantists in Samarkand (Uzbekistan). The museum itself is a fruit of a grassroots initiative by the International Friendship Club "Esperanto". Holds an honorary designation of a "People's Museum" awarded by the Uzbekistan Ministry of Culture. Project closed prior to 2016.

Aims

Promote peace through citizen diplomacy, culture and arts; deepen public awareness of the global challenges on which the future of the world and the survival of our descendants depend; demonstrate the multicultural diversity of the human race, fresh visions of a better world and the need for worldwide solidarity.
