The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

1937 Melbourne VIC Australia

History

1937, Melbourne (Australia), by representatives of Australian, South African and New Zealand Wool Boards. Uruguayan Wool Secretariat joined in 1970. Registered in accordance with Belgian law, 2 Sep 1981. Activities merged with Australian Wool Research and Promotion Organization (AWRAP), 1994-1995. Name changed to Woolmark Company in 1997. Merged organization replaced by Wool Industry Future Directions Task Force in 1998, followed by a Wool Industry Interim Board in 2000. Ceased to exist as a non-profit organization, 1 Jan 2001, when became a limited company 'Australian Wool Services', with 2 main subsidiary companies: 'The Woolmark Company', involving the commercial development of the Woolmark and its sub-brands and the commercialization of intellectual property matters; 'Australian Wool Innovation Limited', managing the proceeds from the wool levy and outsource research and development and intellectual property management.

Aims

Serve the interests of all who produce or use wool, and assist and cooperate with them in their activities; sustain and build the long term demand for wool.
