22 Sep 1986, Geneva (Switzerland), when statutes were adopted. Replaces H-XH0096 - Association fédérale internationale des promoteurs et organisateurs de courses océaniques (AFIPOCO), set up 12 Dec 1979, and continues its aims, objectives and activities. Originally referred to in French as Fédération internationale de la course open. Statutes amended, 10 Nov 1994, when current title adopted. Registered in accordance with the Swiss Civil Code.
Promote open offshore yacht racing; safeguard maritime traditions by upholding international regulations; unite promoters and organizers of ocean races; ensure consensus regarding administrative and financial aspects of organizing such races; assist members in dealings with national and international maritime and sporting authorities.
