The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

1911
History
1911, as 'Committee on Friendly Relations among Foreign Students' under the International Committee of the (USA) National YMCA, serving all students, of any religion. Name changed, 1965, to International Student Office and, in 1970, to YMCA International Student Service (ISS). Reorganized in mid-1970's and name changed to International Program Services, which included ISS, Youth and Camp Exchanges and the 'Around the Corner, Around the World' project. Programmes came under the auspices of the YMCA of Greater New York in 1981. Present name adopted in 1992, although acronym 'ISS' was used officially up to 2001 and is still used unofficially.

Bridge divisions between people, whether due to differences of language, race, religion or national origin; offer values-based programs that have local and global impact, enhance understanding of the world and enable people to work together towards peace and justice.
