The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

1984, Harare (Zimbabwe), at a workshop convened by International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and Southern African Development Coordination Conference, and attended by national scientists. Networked and coordinated by International Livestock Centre for Africa (ILCA). Ceased to exist on merger with African Research Network for Agricultural Byproducts (ARNAB) and West and Central African Animal Feed Research (WECAFNET) to form, Mar 1991, Gaberone, African Feed Resources Network (AFRNET).

Aims

Strengthen national forage research capabilities through joint planning of collaborative research projects, planning of project implementation strategy and fostering in a collegiate manner reviews and evaluations of implemented projects; enhance the exchange of forage germplasm from ILCA' own genebank and from national and other international sources.

Activities

Coordinates collaborative research activities, in particular a multilocational forage germoplasm evaluation programme. Assists in the training of young early career forage scientists and technicians from the region through topical short-term courses.
