17 Jun 1990, by Dr Ayyub Thukar (died 2004). Also referred to as World Jammu and Kashmir Freedom Movement. An umbrella organization of groups working for the cause of Kashmir at international level.
Strive to enable the people of Jammu and Kashmir to exercise their right of self determination within the limits of the UN resolution agreed to by the governments of India and Pakistan; provide moral and material support to the freedom movement and coordinate efforts within and outside Kashmir; provide material relief to victims of repression and uphold and defend human rights of the people in the area.

General Assembly of up to 400 (every 2 years). Governing Council (meets at least once a year), comprising 11 members from Jammu and Kashmir and 4 from Azad Kashmir; numbers may be increased to 40. Academic organ (which publishes newsletter): U-XG1859 - International Institute of Kashmir Studies, London.
