History

Aims

Palestinian and Israeli politicians and negotiators committed themselves to a peace process and to formulation of lasting solutions as a result of individual negotiators meeting on an equal basis for the first time. Therefore, since peace is agreed upon by politicians but must be built by the people: ensure cooperation between Israeli and Palestinians in enhancing the dialogue and relations between their peoples; ensure wider exposure of the two publics to the peace process, its current situation and predicted results; ensure that both sides take steps to foster public debate and involvement, to remove barriers to interaction and to increase people-to-people exchange and interaction within all areas of cooperation; support joint initiatives by Israeli and Palestinian public and private organizations, giving priority to initiatives which potentially bridge large audiences in the two societies; emphasize the role of nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) in direct people-to-people interaction and grass roots cooperation.
