History

1958, as a working group within the framework of International Union of Local Authorities (IULA), evolving from IULA Working Group of Wholesale Markets. Previous name: International Association of Wholesale Markets within IULA -- Association internationale des marchés de gros au sein de la IULA -- Asociación Internacional de Mercados Mayoristas dentro del Marco de Actividades de la IULA. Subsequently changed title to: World Union of Wholesale Markets within IULA (WUWM) -- Union mondiale des marchés de gros au sein d'IULA -- Unión Mundial de Mercados Mayoristas dentro la IULA (UMMM) -- Weltunion der Grossmärkte im IULA -- Unione Mondiale dei Mercati all'Ingrosso in seno all'IULA, 23 Sep 1981, Mannheim (Germany FR). Current title adopted, July 2003, when WUWM established itself as an independent organization. Registered in accordance with Dutch law. EU Transparency Register: 144436210604-54.

Aims

Promote and support the essential role that wholesale and retail markets play in ensuring the sustainable access, availability and distribution of quality fresh food products at competitive prices throughout the international community, whilst maintaining the highest standards of food security.
