1978
History
Established when it was revitalized, within the framework of the A-XA3375 - United Nations (UN), as a subsidiary forum for deliberation on disarmament issues to the UN General Assembly. Linked with the E-XE3376 - United Nations Security Council (UNSC). Successor to the earlier Disarmament Commission, set up 11 Jan 1952, by a Resolution of the General Assembly, and which last met in 1965.
Aims
Make recommendations on various problems in the field of disarmament and follow up the relevant decisions and recommendations of the Special Sessions of the General Assembly devoted to disarmament.
