The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

1989. Registered in accordance with Belgian law. Merged with Federation of European Industrial Cooperative Research Organizations (FEICRO), to form European Association of Research and Technology Organizations (EARTO).

Aims

Promote the concept of contract research and its contribution to the European economy; identify the changing generic needs of European industry; carry out research on and propose improved mechanisms for meeting these needs on a European scale; promote research cooperation to eliminate duplication; seek new forms of cooperation with the European Commission and other European bodies; increase the impact of EC-sponsored research on SMEs and on European industry as a whole; expand contract research especially where it is absent or under-utilized.

Activities

Establishing a European Network of Technological Excellence. Provides training in research and development project management, quality assurance and other advanced methods. Promotes the interaction of members from different countries through Task Forces, Working Groups and Standing Committees dedicated to European issues of research and development. Organizes courses, workshops, seminars, conferences and visits.
