The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

1992-11-09 Paris France

History

9 Nov 1992, Paris (France), at the instigation of Nobel Peace Prize winner Elie Wiesel and on signature of a charter. Inaugurated 29 Jan 1993, Paris, by President François Mitterrand of France. Registered in accordance with French law.

Aims

Unite as a group in responding to the often silent distress of victims of intolerance, racism, ignorance and poverty; act as a voice for excluded, maimed and despised women, for children who are exploited or made to work, for minorities condemned to lose their identity; be attentive to all that leads to progress and hope in combating barbarism; explore means of better preparing for the world's future; study the causes of tension and conflict; mobilize the riches of past heritage and the new resources engendered by progress to bring realistic solutions to the crises that tear humanity apart; in the light of studies on ethics and on human rights, clarify the moral, intellectual and democratic values that should fashion the 21st century.
