History

9 Nov 1974, developing from the First Asian Regional Training and Development Conference convened on that date. Original title: Asian Regional Training and Development Organization (ARTDO).

Aims

Encourage a unified approach to common problems and concerns in human resource development; assist in the formation and growth of training and development organizations; cooperate with international organizations and with private and government institutions working in the field of human resource development; encourage and sponsor research and publications designed to meet the training and development needs; serve as a resource centre.

International and inter-regional conferences. Distribution and exchange of documents. Establishment of continuing committees for research and documentation on special problems related to human resources development and other services. Training seminars; courses or institutes on particular subjects. Organization of professional training centres. Exchange of trainers, students and experts in human resources development. Annual HRD Awards. Maintains ARTDO Asia-Pacific Human Resources Development Centre, which serves as the research and professional development arm.
