In 2028, Busan will host the World Congress on Computational Mechanics (WCCM), a major international academic conference that will bring together over 3,000 experts in computational mechanics from around the world. WCCM is a biennial conference organized by the International Association for Computational Mechanics. It serves as a platform for sharing the latest research and innovations in computational solid mechanics and computational fluid dynamics through discussions and lectures.

The SSAI Congress is a bi-annual meeting meant for the professionals of the field of anaesthesiology. The congress is held in a different Nordic city that holds a University Hospital each time – the congress is held in Finland every ten years. In 2024, the honor was granted to Oulu.
The international Fab Lab Conference will take place in Oulu in August 2027
The Fab Lab Conference is an annual event that rotates globally. In 2024, the conference took place in Mexico. The conference is organised in partnership with the Fab Foundation and the average number of participants is around 800 people. The City of Oulu will act as the responsible organiser and the University of Oulu as a partner.
