The first WCFS in Europe was a success
The 5th World Conference on Floating Solutions 2025 (WCFS2025) took place in Espoo in September, marking a significant milestone for the floating solutions community. The event gathered a diverse group of experts, from companies and academics to investors and entrepreneurs. All in all, the event welcomed 227 participants from 141 organisations and 60 countries. The conference was hosted by Bluet Floating Solutions and organised in collaboration with the Society of Floating Solutions (Singapore) / SFSS, VTT, Aalto University, and other partners.
This was the first time the event was held in Europe. The feedback after the conference was overwhelmingly positive.
The conference created a powerful platform for face-to-face interactions
The conference theme, “Floating Solutions for Sustainable Urban Waterfront Development and the Blue Economy”, was the foundation for insightful discussions. The program highlighted the critical role of innovative solutions in solving urban challenges, advancing sustainability, and promoting economic collaboration in the blue economy.
A defining element of WCFS2025 was its focus on fostering genuine connections. Beyond research and innovations, the conference created a powerful platform for face-to-face interactions, allowing participants to forge valuable, long-term collaborations.
The first day, designated as Academic Day, was packed with presentations and keynote speeches. The second day shifted focus to the Business Forum and networking, where companies showcased solutions and new ideas. The day fostered an excellent environment for building new partnerships and creating business opportunities.
A series of technical tours showcased innovative local floating solutions
During the conference, the attendees delved into productive workshops, engaged in lively discussions, and explored personalized matchmaking, which was a success. The Finnish sauna at Hanaholmen proved to be a major highlight for many congress attendees, offering a memorable and authentic experience.
Participants also had the exclusive opportunity to explore some of the most innovative local floating solutions firsthand through a series of technical tours. The tours included visits to the Aalto Ice and Wave Tank, a state-of-the-art facility for model testing of floating structures, as well as several impressive local examples: Villa Helmi, the floating restaurant Meripaviljonki, and the floating swimming pools at Allas Pool.
