History

Set up 2011, by E-XE3088 - European Committee of the Regions (CoR).

Aims

Coordinate the representation of the local and regional authorities within the Eastern Partnership; complement and support the effort by the EU institutions and other participating stakeholders in delivering the European Neighbourhood Policy; spread the concepts that will bring partner countries closer to the EU and foster the internal reform and capacity building at the local and regional level.

Structure

Annual Meeting. Composition: 18 members of CoR and 18 representatives from the Eastern partner countries (3 seats per partner country). Bureau; Co-chaired by CoR President and a representative from partner countries. EU seats distributed among 5 political groups: E-XE2123 - Group of the European People's Party in the Committee of the Regions (EPP-CoR); E-XE5945 - Party of European Socialists (PES); E-XM4739 - Renew Europe - Committee of the Regions (Renew Europe); E-XM4741 - European Conservatives and Reformists Group - Committee of the Regions (ECR-CoR).
