Established 16 Dec 2010, when legislation establishing ESRB entered into force: Regulation (EU) No 1092/2010 of E-XE3068 - Council of the European Union and F-XF0667 - European Parliament (EP) of 24 Nov 2010; Council Regulation (EU) No 1096/2010 of 17 Nov 2010. Part of European System of Financial Supervision (ESFS).
Aims
Be the responsible body for the macro-prudential oversight of the financial system within the Union in order to contribute to the prevention or mitigation of systemic risks to financial stability in the Union that arise from developments within the financial system and taking into account macro-economic developments, so as to avoid periods of widespread financial distress.
