Founded
2001
History
Founded 2001, as Global Public-Private Partnership for Handwashing with Soap (PPPHW). Current title adopted Jan 2017. Grew out of two large-scale handwashing programmes whose success demonstrated the untapped synergies of public-private sector collaboration and the role of consumer research and consumer-centred marketing in driving handwashing behaviour change. Original members included multilateral organizations, academic institutions, non-governmental organizations, private sector companies and G-XG2898 - United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Aims
Promote handwashing with soap and the recognition of hygiene as a pillar of international development and public health.
