Founded 10 Jul 1974, Recife (Brazil), following initiatives at Intercontinental Scientific Meeting, 1973, Mexico City (Mexico). Statutes adopted 31 Jan 1975, New York NY (USA); amended 14 Oct 1979, San José (Costa Rica), 4 Dec 1992 Miami FL (USA), 4 Jan 1993 Puerto Rico, 25 Aug 1995, Puerto Rico, 13 Jul 2001, Salvador da Bahia (Brazil). Registered in accordance with Venezuelan law, 1975.
Aims
Unite the scientific community of the Americas in order to better serve development of the nations and the well-being of their peoples; promote in a cooperative manner the use of science and technology to benefit the people of the continent; stimulate formation of associations for advancement of science where they do not as yet exist.
