1983-07 Monrovia Liberia

History

Jul 1983, Monrovia (Liberia), by the Bishops of H-XD9038 - Association of Episcopal Conferences of Anglophone West Africa (AECAWA), at its 3rd Plenary Assembly. Statutes last amended by Executive Meeting, 6-7 Feb 1997, Banjul (Gambia). Ceased to exist when AECAWA was dissolved, 2007.

Aims

Foster increased cooperation and development in catechetics among AECAWA countries and find ways and means to accomplish this; coordinate their efforts in all areas of catechetics in order to increase possibilities, avoid duplication, and reduce expenses; serve AECAWA and its members in matters proper to or related to catechetics and religious education; cooperate with other international bodies for catechetics.

Structure

Chairman of Commission, appointed by AECAWA; Executive Secretary/Treasurer proposed by AWACC and appointed by AECAWA; the 5 National Directors of Catechetics of AECAWA countries; one representative from each Ecclesiastical province of ACEAWA; one representative of the U-XF0194 - Catholic Institute of West Africa (CIWA). Executive Committee (meets at least once a year), comprising Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer and one representative from each AECAWA country.
