The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

1978, Paris (France), by resolution 1/5.4/3 of the 20th session of UNESCO, when statutes were adopted. Revised statutes adopted 1990, under which responds directly to Intergovernmental Committee for Physical Education and Sport (CIGEPS).

Aims

Collect contributions for the promotion of physical education; reinforce assistance and intellectual, technical and financial cooperation at national, regional and international levels; support research into and formation of new physical activities and sports; use sport as means of international cooperation and education.

Activities

International sporting events. Dissemination of games for: the handicapped; developing countries. Supports research into educative use of games. Sport For All programme: creation of low-cost sporting infrastructure using local materials and human resources; training of sports animators and trainers using existing institutions; researching financial resources, whether public or private; sensitizing public opinion.
