23 Apr 1987, Shanghai (China), as Far East Fracture Group (FEFG), as a regional organization of C-XC1696 - International Congress on Fracture (ICF). Current name adopted 5 Jul 1994, Xi'an (China).
Aims
Foster research in the Far East and Oceanic nations/regions in the mechanics and phenomena of fracture, fatigue, and strength of materials; promote cooperation among scientists and engineers in these fields.

Council, consisting of national/regional delegations, each of which is appointed by each nation/region (a delegation consists of no more than 5 members); Founder-President, former Presidents and former Secretary-Generals are ex officio members of the Council. Executive Committee, comprising President, Vice-Presidents, Directors, Treasurer and Secretary-General; Founder-President, former Presidents and former Secretary-Generals are ex-officio members of the Executive Committee.
