History
within the framework of C-XC3005 - NATO and subordinate to Allied Commander in Chief Channel (CINCHAN) -- Commandant en chef allié de la Manche. Disbanded, 1 Jul 1994, when replaced by U-XF2825 - Allied Forces North Western Europe (AFNORTHWEST).

Control and protect merchant shipping and contribute to overall deterrence.

CINCHAN's subordinate commanders include: Commander Allied Maritime Air Force; Commander North Sub-Area Channel; Commander Plymouth Sub-Area, Channel; Commander Benelux Sub-Area; Standing Naval Force Channel (STANAVFORCHAN), (mine counter-measures) afloat. Organization of ACCHAN subordinate command is currently under review following decision of NATO Defence Ministers, Dec 1991, to reduce the number of major NATO commands from 3 to 2.
