Established 5-9 Sep 1973, Algiers (Algeria), at 4th Conference of Heads of State or Government of Non-Aligned Countries, also referred to as Conference of Non-Aligned Countries, following a resolution of S-XS2337 - Conference of Foreign Ministers of Non-Aligned Countries, 8-12 Aug 1972, Georgetown (Guyana), and meeting of Preparatory Committee, 13-15 May 1973, Kabul (Afghanistan). 1st meeting: 19-21 Mar 1974, Algiers. Also known as Coordinating Bureau of the F-XK0563 - Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), the latter having existed since 1961, Belgrade (Yugoslavia), and sometimes referred to as 'Movement of Non-Aligned Countries'.
Aims
Work towards establishment of a new international economic order; elaborate an economic strategy for non-aligned countries.

Coordinating Bureau (currently 69 countries) meets at Ministerial and Senior Official levels. The Chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement is assisted by: an Advisory Council; a team of economic experts; Ambassadors-at-Large (4) for 4 regions (Africa, America, Europe, Asia and Middle East); an Office of the Executive Assistant to the NAM Chairman; a Technical Committee attached to the latter Office. The Bureau has no secretariat but normally meets at United Nations Headquarters, New York NY (USA).
Ministerial meetings include: Ministerial Meeting of the Mediterranean Non-Aligned Countries; U-XK1154 - Non-Aligned Movement Committee of Ministers on Imposition of Sanctions; Non-Aligned Movement Ministerial Committee on Methodology, unofficially known as 'Committee for the Movement's Functioning'; Standing Ministerial Committee for Economic Cooperation of the Non-Aligned Movement (SMC).
