History
Established 5-9 Sep 1973, Algiers (Algeria), at 4th Conference of Heads of State or Government of Non-Aligned Countries, also referred to as Conference of Non-Aligned Countries, following a resolution of Conference of Foreign Ministers of Non-Aligned Countries, 8-12 Aug 1972, Georgetown (Guyana), and meeting of Preparatory Committee, 13-15 May 1973, Kabul (Afghanistan). 1st meeting: 19-21 Mar 1974, Algiers. Also known as Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), the latter having existed since 1961, Belgrade (Yugoslavia), and sometimes referred to as 'Movement of Non-Aligned Countries'.
