The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

9 Nov 1982, Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), by a decision of the Higher Council of member countries of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

Aims

Act as the sole body in the Gulf region responsible for all legislative aspects of standardization.

Activities

Drafts, approves and issues standards for commodities, products, metrology and calibration, sampling, codes of practice, etc; conducts training sessions for staff members of relevant bodies in member states; follows up implementation of the Gulf Standards through standardization bodies in each member state and regulates a system for issuing Conformity Certificates and Quality Mark licences; participates as an observer body in regional and international standardization activities.
