Oct 1975, Bonn (Germany FR), as European Communities Biologists Association -- Association des biologistes des Communautés européennes -- Vereinigung der Biologen der Europäischen Gemeinschaften -- Associazione dei Biologi delle Comunità Europee. New name adopted 1998.
Aims
Represent professional interests and ensure professional competence of biologists within the European Communities; provide information on professional matters concerning biologists; promote cooperation among national biologists' associations throughout Europe; facilitate free movement of biologists within the European Communities; promote exchange of teachers of biologists within the European Communities; promote recognition of the essential role of biology in the education of the public at all levels of the education system; advise the European Commission and the public in general of biological issues of public concern.
