History

Jun 1999, as one of the 'European Network of Specialist Centres' of F-XF1447 - Open Partial Agreement on the Prevention of, Protection against and Organization of Relief in Major Natural and Technological Disasters (EUR-OPA Major Hazards Agreement), within the framework of the D-XD0435 - Council of Europe (CE). Original title: Associate European Centre on Flooding. Subsequently changed title to: European Associated Centre in Flood Problems (EACFP-Moldova). Registered in accordance with the law of Moldova, 17 May 2000.

Aims

Reduce natural risks as a central element of sustainable development and stability by means of developing the legislative, scientific and educational basis with respect to risk prevention, reaction and assistance; mobilize and concentrate in this respect the efforts of the scientific community in order to contribute to risk management improvement. Promote local, national, regional and international cooperation in 4 priority fields: education and training; comparative analysis and legislative harmonization; scientific research; expertise.
