Provide a forum for establishing and strengthening the profession and standards of scientific editing in Africa; promote and assist training programmes for scientists as authors, editors and publishers; undertake special studies related to problems in scientific editing, including viability of these enterprises, international exchanges, copyright problems and co-publishing; promote communication and interchange of views and ideas among people engaged in the various facets of scientific editing and publishing in the continent; encourage editors to take an interest in in the planning, production and distribution of publications and in the development of information systems; affiliate with other bodies, international, regional and national, with similar objectives; undertake any other projects and ideas of specific interests to members.
