History

Founded 1988, as a sectoral University-Enterprise Training Partnership (UETP). Formerly known as Women in Technology in the European Community. 2001, established as a non-profit European association.

Aims

Increase the number of girls and women studying science, engineering and technology; develop women's technical and entrepreneurial skills through training initiatives and projects; create information exchanges and networking opportunities for women in science, engineering and technology; promote and support research into areas relating to women in non-traditional fields; promote regional, national and international awareness and interest in the field.

Activities

Organizes and/or acts as partners in international projects and organizes various events which aim to increase professional development and career opportunities for women; arranges placements and scholarships for female students in foreign countries; organizes training and mentoring courses, seminars and conferences for professionals and employees; produces training materials for courses such as IT updating for women returning to work, multimedia courses, training in IT and flexible working; lobbies key players across Europe; disseminates results of projects and research.
