The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

1986, Germany FR, by Jesuit Volunteers International (JVI). Comes within the framework of Society of Jesus (SJ).

Aims

Offer young people the opportunity to work as full-time volunteers for justice and peace in activities consistent with their Christian faith, discovering or deepening their spiritual life, by working and living together with underprivileged people.

Activities

Works with existing organizations concerned with human dignity, supporting their activities and offering the assistance of volunteers whose aptitudes and interests match the organizations' specific requirements. Volunteers (teachers, nurses, jurists, social workers, etc) assist marginalized people, the homeless, delinquents, prisoners, refugees, immigrants, children, old people, living with them and sharing their experience, convictions and hopes. Time is given for reflection and for private and communal prayer. Each community is accompanied by a Jesuit priest or a religious. Holds meetings for volunteers to get to know each other, share experiences, train and have recreation.
