History
Feb 1975, by merger of Institution of the Rubber Industry and of Plastics Institute. Ceased to exist 1 Jan 1992, when merged with U-XG7908 - Institute of Metals, the 'Institute of Ceramics' and the 'British Composites Society' to form Institute of Materials.
Aims
Develop standards and methods of education and training in the art, science, engineering and technology of plastics, rubbers and other high polymers in academic, research, industrial, commercial and administrative capacities.
