Founded 1989, as Electric Vehicle Association of the Americas (EVAA), on merger of an organization of the same name with 'Electric Vehicle Development Corporation (EVDC)', set up 1984. Present name adopted 2003.
Facilitate development of a self-sustaining market for battery, hybrid electric and fuel cell electric vehicles in the transportation sector; provide an industry view of potential market development; provide leadership in the development of related infrastructure; provide a forum for identification and discussion of significant issues related to the electric drive industry; promote the widespread adoption of electric drive systems for the clean and efficient transport of people and goods.Available with paid subscription only.
As a regional association of World Electric Vehicle Association (WEVA), organizes EVS biennial symposium in rotation with European Association for Battery, Hybrid and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (AVERE) and Electric Vehicle Association of Asia Pacific (EVAAP). Also organizes: Annual Conference; EVS Series (every 3-4 years) in North America.
