1985, as Alternative Future Project (AF) -- Prosjekt Alternativ Framtid. New name and mandate adopted 1 Jan 1996. Became a research programme of the University of Oslo (Norway), 1 Jan 2000. As of 1 Jan 2006, part of Centre for Development and the Environment, Oslo. Concluded May 2009.
Aims
Stimulate public interest in alternative societal development on the basis of democratic choices; give priority to social goals, cooperation, responsibility for environment and resources, peace and solidarity rather than to competition and economic growth.
