11 Nov 1961, Buenos Aires (Argentina), at 5th Latin American Meeting of Plant Scientists, as Latin American Association of Plant Scientists -- Association latinoaméricaine de phytologie -- Asociación Latinoamericana de Fitotecnia (ALAF). Listed name adopted 1973. Registered in accordance with Costa Rican law. No recent activity reported since 1983.
Aims
Promote professional relations among Latin American agricultural scientists by organizing technical meetings, publishing a technical journal, affiliating professional societies that work on specific crops or fields of study, stimulating closer personal acquaintance among members, promoting association with other professional societies in the American and other continents; overcome geographical barriers between Latin American technicians.
