History

1862, by the Roman Catholic Church on the initiative of Pope Pius IX. Originally aligned with E-XF2610 - Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples (CEP), known then as 'De Propagande Fide'. Made independent by Pope Benedict XV in 1917. Also referred to as Congregation for the Eastern Churches. Administered within the framework of F-XF8042 - Administrative Hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church.

Maintain relations of the Holy See with Eastern Catholic Churches.
