History
1 Jul 1994, within the framework of E-XE2231 - Allied Command Operations (ACO) of C-XC3005 - NATO, replacing F-XK0384 - Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFC Brunssum), U-XE2265 - NATO Allied Command Channel (ACCHAN) and 'UK AIR'. Responsible to the Supreme Allied Commander Europe and based at High Wycombe (UK). Closed down 3 Mar 2000 as part of the ACE Restructuring Programme.
Aims
Ensure defence of the land areas of the United Kingdom and Norway and the sea areas of the Baltic, the Channel, Norway's coastal waters and the extended coastal waters of the UK, plus all airspace above.

Comes under the authority of Commander-in-Chief - CINCNORTHWEST and includes 3 Principal Subordinate Commands: Allied Air Forces Northwestern Europe (AIRNORTHWEST); Allied Naval Forces Northwestern Europe (NAVNORTHWEST); Allied Forces Northern Europe (AFNORTH), Stavanger (Norway) (not the same as the previous subordinate command AFNORTH). In addition, U-XE0930 - Allied Forces Baltic Approaches (BALTAP) reports to CINCNORTHWEST for maritime and maritime air forces.
