Subsequently changed title to Independence/Democracy (IND/DEM) – Indépendance/Démocratie – Independenza e Democrazia – Onafhankelijkheid/Democratie – Självständighet/Demokrati – Selvstaendighed/Demokrati – Nezavislost/Demokracia – Niepodleglosc/Demokracja, Jun 2004, when new statutes were adopted. Changed title to Europe of Freedom and Democracy - Group in the European Parliament (EFD) – Europe Libertés Démocratie – Europa della Liberta 'e Della Democrazia – Europa van Vrijheid en Democratie – Gruppen for Europaeisk Frihed og Demokrati – Vapaa ja Demokraattinen Eurooppa – Európa Demokracie a Slobody – Laisvos ir Demokratiskos Europos Frakcisjos, Jul 2009, when new statutes were adopted. Current title adopted 24 Jun 2014, on restructuring with less members. Dissolved, 16 Oct 2014, on decision of the EP, when member countries reduced to 6. Re-formed under listed title, 20 Oct 2014, on joining of additional member (Poland). Did not register for 9th European Parliament, so no longer an active political group, 2019.


Promote rejection of the European Constitution and the idea of a European superstate; campaign against further European integration; oppose corruption and campaign for greater transparency in the European institutions.
