1992. SAF is the continuation of the Space Agency Forum for the International Space Year (SASIFY) -- Forum des agences spatiales pour l'Année internationale de l'espace, created in 1988 to coordinate International Space Year (ISY) activities.
Promote cooperation and communication among the world's space agencies and discuss space issues of common interest; act as a consultation forum where information is exchanged amongst heads of space organizations, and opportunities for cooperation identified; cover a broad range of space activities, including policy, education and public outreach.
