History

Founded with the assistance of U-XG1936 - Deutsche Stiftung für Internationale Entwicklung (DSE). Current statutes adopted 4-12 Jun 1990, Cairo (Egypt). Proposes setting up: U-XK0396 - Institut de perfectionnement de l'AFROSAI.

Aims

Promote and develop exchange of views and experience among supreme audit institutions at regional level; promote and realize systematic studies in matters of control of public finance; coordinate or enable specific studies on demand; act as regional information centre and support creation of sub-regional groups and subsidiary information and documentation centres; keep members up-to-date on modifications to national legislation, on control of public finance and on changes in the functioning of respective institutions; liaise among higher education institutions and encourage exchange of specialists and experts; promote and direct specialist training of personnel in the field; promote theoretical and practical studies and the creation of study centres, institutes and university chairs; promote unification of principles, procedures and terminology in the African region.
