Jul 1987, within the framework of H-XF0319 - Regional Network for the Exchange of Information and Experience in Science and Technology in Asia and the Pacific (ASTINFO), supported by B-XB3383 - UNESCO, a Regional Information Network on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants for Asia and the Pacific (RINMAP) having been proposed in 1984.

Aims

Assist member countries to improve their capability to collect, process, disseminate and use research information and data on medicinal and aromatic plants.

Structure

Management Board (meeting at least every 2 years), consists of one representative from each participating country, nominated by UNESCO in consultation with the Board. National nodes. Secretariat, headed by Secretary-General, rotates among members and is currently located in Metro Manila (Philippines). Overall technical information activities currently coordinated by a designated Network Centre, U-XF9166 - SEARCA Information Resources Development Programme (IRDP).
