21 Oct 1960, Amsterdam (Netherlands), as Organization of European Aluminium Smelters -- Organisation européenne des affineurs d'aluminium -- Organisation Europäischer Aluminium-Schmelzhütten. Also referred to as Organisation of the European Aluminium Recycling Industry. Integrated into European Aluminium Association (EAA), prior to 2015.


Represent the common interests of secondary aluminium refiners and remelters vis-à-vis international authorities and the public; promote close cooperation among members in the fields of economics, statistics, technology, environmental protection, quality, safety, energy conservation, alloy standardization and analytical techniques.

Draws up market statistics, including coverage of raw materials and secondary aluminium. Technical problems are dealt with through Committees: products; analysis; quality control; processing of scrap; energy consumption; furnace technology; filter technology; treatment of salt slags.
