17 Jun 1999, Teheran (Iran Islamic Rep), by C-XC4129 - Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Previously also known under the acronyms of PUOICM -- UPMOCI.
Aims
Introduce and disseminate principles of Islam; enhance and support implementation of Islamic principle of consultation in all OIC Member States; provide framework for cooperation and coordination among OIC member states parliaments in international fora and organizations; promote meeting and dialogue among OIC member and their deputies; strengthen contacts, cooperation and coordination with other parliamentary, governmental and non-governmental organizations, so as to advance common objectives; foster coordination among people worldwide in order to respect and defend human rights and humanitarian principles and establish peace, based on justice.

Conference (every 2 years). Council (meets annually), consisting of 2 members of legislative and/or consultative assemblies or similar bodies from each member of the Union. Executive Committee, comprising one member each from the delegations of previous, present and future hosts of the Conference, in addition to 6 members (2 from each Geographical group) elected by the Council. General Secretariat, headed by Secretary General.
