The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).


Jan 1978, New York NY (USA), as Inter-Agency Procurement Services Unit (IAPSU) -- Groupe des services d'achats interorganisations, in the framework of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Originally based in New York NY, moved, at the beginning of 1982, to Geneva (Switzerland). Relocated, July 1989, to Copenhagen (Denmark), when most recent name was adopted. As of 1 Jan 2008, ceased to exist. Operations of UNWebbuy and United Nations Global Marketplace (UNGM) websites and services taken over by United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS). UNDP continues to offer procurement training courses.


As a coordination office for UN procurement matters: undertake Research and Development activities to harmonize procurement procedures and practices with a view to achieving transparency, standardization, cost-effectiveness and skill development, including advisory services to the business community on how to market to the UN system. As a procurement services office: provide a wide range of procurement services, including advisory services, training and capacity building in the area of procurement, with focus on UNDP and its partners, such as programme country governments, donor governments and civil society organizations.
