The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

17 Nov 1875, New York NY (USA), by Helena P Blavatsky (1831-1891), Henry S Olcott (1832-1907), William Q Judge (1851-1896) and others. International Headquarters transferred, 1882, to Chennai (India) and became F-XB3316 - Theosophical Society (TS), under the leadership of H S Olcott and Annie Besant. Meanwhile the Theosophical Society also remained in New York NY under leadership of William Q Judge and subsequently transferred to Pasadena CA (USA). Some years after the death of Helena Blavatsky in 1891, the theosophical movement divided into several separate organizations.


As a non-sectarian and nonpolitical society: diffuse knowledge of the laws inherent in the universe; promulgate knowledge of the essential unity of all that is and demonstrate that this unity is fundamental in nature; form an active brotherhood among men; study ancient and modern religion, science and philosophy; investigate the powers innate in man.
