1946, to assist the activities of E-XD1573 - International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN). Registered as a charity under British law. Ceased to exist 2015.
Fund the work of ICZN on a sound financial basis; make its work more widely known, especially in developing countries; encourage its members to keep in touch with currents of opinion in their specialist fields; help augment the status of taxonomy by organizing courses on nomenclature; assist in coordination among members of the Commission's Council.
